Truck-Lite Celebrates the 17th National Recycle Week

As a manufacturing company in the commercial vehicle industry, our team at Truck-Lite are aware of the importance of recycling and the environmental impact our actions can have. Therefore we want to celebrate our recycling success and raise awareness of the challenges we face on a daily basis, especially during a global pandemic.

Our dedicated distribution centre and operational team have put together a Truck-Lite Environmental poster outlining our monthly recycling averages across the business.

So what do we recycle at Truck-Lite Europe?

Paper - Over 20kg of paper from our offices and warehouses is sent to be recycled every month

Cardboard - We recycle around 2 tonnes of cardboard from storage, shipping and packing per week!

Wood - Roughly 3 tonnes of wood is recycled every month (including wood from warehouse pallets)

Cable - An estimated 800kg of cable is recycled per month - we also send around a ton of empty plastic cable reels back to our suppliers each month so they can be reused

Other plastic - We are currently working on a project to recycle the plastic from our red lenses

Ink Cartridges - We try to limit the amount of printing in our offices and warehouses, but the ink cartridges that we do use we send to be recycled professionally (usually 10 units per month)

It’s important to know how our recycling efforts pay off and how this helps the environment. We’ve worked out that our monthly recycling at Truck-Lite saves…

  • 20 trees
  • 60 pounds of pollution
  • 7,000 gallons of water
  • 3 cubic yards of landfill space
  • 380 gallons of oil
  • 1 ton of emissions reduced
  • Enough energy to power the average home for 6 months

Imagine what we could achieve if all businesses pulled together to recycle more?
